Présentation par les organisateurs

Are you a tech company interested in learning more about the state and future of global online regulation and what it means for your platform? Are you a researcher, government official, or civil society representative who is invested in supporting the tech sector in tackling terrorist use of the internet whilst safeguarding human rights and freedom of expression? Have you been following the Online Regulation Series and want to hear more about the impact of global online regulation on freedom of expression and digital rights?

Across October and November, Tech Against Terrorism organised the Online Regulation Series, exploring current trends in global regulation of online speech, with a particular focus on terrorist content. To mark the end of the Online Regulation Series, Tech Against Terrorism is organising a concluding webinar to present our findings and provide a global overview of the state and future of online regulation.

During this webinar, Tech Against Terrorism will welcome a panel of regional experts to discuss the global regulatory approaches that we have covered throughout the Online Regulation Series, and we will look at trends in Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South America. In doing so, we hope to cover issues like removal deadlines, definitions of terrorism and “harmful” content, transparency, accountability, and smaller tech platform capacity. Our aim is to highlight strengths and areas of improvement in current regulation, and together with experts identify methods to improve regulatory efforts to tackle terrorist use of the internet in a way that respects the rule of law and protects human rights.

As always, this webinar session will finish with a Q&A session that is open to all attendees.

About the Online Regulation Series

Through the Online Regulation Series, Tech Against Terrorism has worked on providing our stakeholders with an update on the state and future of online regulation globally. By doing so, we hope to shed light on a key issue for anyone interested in countering terrorist use of the internet whilst safeguarding human rights and freedom of expression: the regulation of online content.

Throughout the Online RegulationSeries we have published regular summaries on the state of online regulation around the world, focusing on examining existing and emerging legislation and what they mean for tech platforms. We also examined tech sector initiatives in this regard, as well as some of the recent thinking amongst academia and expert researchers.
