“RAN Study visit to practitioners in CanadaThis is an online meeting that will take place on 23 November from 15:00-18:00 CET and 24 November from 15:00-18:00 CET

“For the digital study visit to Canada, we are currently looking for interested and suitable practitioners.
We will virtually “visit” two organisations for P/CVE practitioners in Canada:

  • The Canadian Practitioners Network for Prevention of Radicalization and Extremist Violence (CPN-PREV)
  • and The Centre for the Prevention of Radicalization Leading to Violence (CPRLV).

Both organisations offer unique insights into the practical P/CVE work that is being done in Canada. CPN-PREV is an evidence-based and practitioners-centred network that collects and supports best-practices and encourages cooperation between different stakeholders in the field. The CPRLV is the first independent non-profit organisation in Canada aimed at preventing violent radicalization and providing support to individuals affected by the phenomenon.

Both organisations provide a large set of tools, research and resources for practitioners as well as multiple support offers for concerned individuals.

The CPRLV will present its Hexagon tool in an interactive session where participants take on an individual role in a fictional case study on the first day. The pedagogical case assessment tool can be used in Multi-Agency contexts. As a large practitioners’ organisation, the CPN will give valuable insights into the Canadian P/CVE landscape and inform participants about challenges and trends in the Canadian context. Moreover, the CPN will present their own work, tools and trainings as well as their information sharing platform and will prepare an interactive break-out session where case management and Multi-Agency work can be discussed.

The study visit aims to increase participants’ knowledge through exchanges with the practitioners working with a multi-agency approach. Furthermore, it aims to cross-check experiences and the theoretical knowledge produced in Europe in recent years against the realities developing in Canada.

Call for participants

We are currently looking for first-line practitioners in P/CVE who are interested in pedagogical case analysis tools, international exchange and training for first-line practitioners. In order to find the best-suited participants, we would like to ask you if you could answer the following questions when sharing your interest to participate:

  • What are the three key questions you would like to ask the Canadian practitioners and/or other participants during this virtual study visit?
  • What are your experiences with case assessment tools?
  • Do you use standardised protocols for the assessment of a case?

Experiences from your country:

What actors are involved when dealing with and assessing a case, especially regarding returning foreign terrorist fighters (FTFs)?

Deadline

If you are interested in participating at this meeting, please elaborate on these questions before the 7th November the latest by sending your answers to Fenna Keijzer and Julia Handle.

We will invite participants based on this information. Please keep in mind that we can only invite a limited amount of participants to this meeting to ensure valuable exchange and interaction, so participation is not guaranteed. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.”
