The Cluster of Excellence 2060 “Religion and Politics. Dynamics of Tradition and Innovation” at the University of Münster, Germany, is offering a three-year part-time position as Doctoral Research Associate
Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (salary level TV-L E13, 65%) within the research project “EXC 2060 B3-39 – Cross-Organizational and Cross-National Differences in Religious Accommodation” under the direction of Ines Michalowski.
This fixed-term position is scheduled to start on 1 December 2020 and will run for 36 months. According to the German collective labour agreement for public sector employees (TV-L E13), the salary for the position starts at approximately 1688€ (net) per month during the first year. The regular working hours for this 65% position amount to 25 hours and 53 minutes per week.
The Cluster is an interdisciplinary research association with a thematic focus on the dynamic power of religion as a driving force behind political and social changes. Disciplines involved include: history, political science, sociology, Catholic and Protestant theology and law, Islamic studies and theology, Jewish studies, Egyptology, classical and early Christian archaeology, philosophy, philology, art history and ethnology. Standard duties:
- participation in the research project “EXC 2060 B3-39 – Cross-Organizational and Cross-National Differences in Religious Accommodation”
- active involvement in the graduate school program
Research associates are expected to pursue their own academic career (doctoral thesis) in conjunction with the duties pertaining to the position. To facilitate communication and collaboration within the graduate school, support will be provided for applicants who are not proficient in German to attend German language courses.
Qualifications, knowledge and experiences:
- a master’s degree in sociology or related disciplines with above-average results
- a research interest in the sociology of religion, migration or organization
- good language skills in English and Spanish or French
- good basic knowledge of qualitative or quantitative empirical research methods and willingness to further improve these skills
